Don't Let Them Steal Your Peace: Order Your Own Steps
People will be inconsiderate. People will be rude. But their behavior does not have to become your burden. You keep your journey. You order your own steps. From pain to purpose — period.
Let me be honest with you today.
Sometimes people are just inconsiderate. Sometimes they are rude. Sometimes they do things — say things — that have absolutely nothing to do with you, but land on you anyway. And in that moment, it is so easy to let their energy shift yours. To let their bad day become your bad day. To let their lack of consideration pull you off the path you have been working so hard to stay on.
I want to talk about that today. Because it happens to all of us. And how we respond to it matters more than most people realize.
Their Behavior Is Not Your Assignment
Here is something I have had to learn — and keep learning — over the years: other people's behavior is not your assignment.
When someone is rude to you, dismissive of you, inconsiderate of your time or your feelings or your humanity — that is a reflection of where they are. It is not a verdict on who you are. It is not an invitation for you to shrink, retaliate, or spiral. It is simply information about them.
You do not have to carry it.
You are allowed to acknowledge that something hurt, that something was wrong, that you deserved better — and then make a conscious choice to set it down and keep moving. That is not weakness. That is wisdom. That is the kind of emotional discipline that protects your peace and preserves your purpose.
Protect Your Mood Like It Is Sacred — Because It Is
Your mood is not a small thing. Your emotional state is the foundation from which you make decisions, build relationships, do your work, and show up for the people who need you. When you allow someone else's inconsideration to hijack your mood, you are handing them power they were never supposed to have.
I am not saying you should never feel hurt or frustrated. Feel it. Name it. Give it its moment. But then — do not let it move in.
You have a journey to stay on. You have steps to order. You have a purpose that is bigger than the rudeness of someone who was probably never thinking about you at all.
Guard your peace like it is sacred. Because it is.
Order Your Own Steps
This phrase has been on my heart lately: order your own steps.
It means this — stop letting other people's chaos set your agenda. Stop letting someone else's bad energy determine the direction of your day. Stop waiting for the world to be fair before you decide to move forward.
Order your own steps. Decide where you are going. Decide how you are going to get there. Decide who you are going to be on the way — regardless of who is being inconsiderate, regardless of who is not showing up the way they should, regardless of what is not going the way you planned.
You are the author of your next move. Not them.
From Pain to Purpose — Period
The whole foundation of this work — everything Empowerment Coaching Global is built on — comes back to this: from pain to purpose.
Not from pain to perfection. Not from pain to a life where no one is ever rude to you again. From pain to purpose. Meaning: the hard things, the inconsiderate people, the moments that sting — they do not get to stop you. They are part of the passage, not the destination.
You keep your journey. You protect your peace. You order your own steps.
Period.
If you need support staying on your path — especially when the world around you is making it hard — that is exactly what coaching is for. I am here.
