You Will See Me
Their refusal to see me does not make me invisible. I am tired. I am hurting. Sometimes I am afraid. And I am still here.
Hello.
You might not know me, but I know pain.
I know isolation. I have felt isolated for much of my life. And if I am completely honest, there have also been times when my pain caused me to push away people who tried to support me.
Survival taught me to build walls. Now I am fighting through the pain and learning how to let people see me again.
I know racism. I know sexism, ableism, and ageism. I know what it feels like to enter a space and realize that someone has already decided not to see you.
Some people see my disability before they see my ability. They see my scars before they hear my story. They see my age before they recognize my experience. They see my struggles before they consider everything I have accomplished.
But their refusal to see me does not make me invisible.
You Will See Me
I will show you who I am. I will show you the fight I have inside me. I will keep standing—even when standing hurts. I will keep using my voice—even when others would rather ignore it.
I am not claiming to be extraordinary. I am simply saying that I am a fighter.
I am tired. I am hurting. Sometimes I am afraid.
And I am still here.
The Fight Right Now
Right now, part of my fight is receiving the medically necessary permanent dental restoration I need. Because of my tremors, removable dentures are neither safe nor workable for me. I need permanent, fixed, implant-supported teeth.
This is about more than a smile. It is about eating, speaking clearly, living confidently, and continuing the work I was placed here to do.
I do not need someone to rescue me. I need someone—somewhere—to believe in me deeply enough to help me take the next step.
As I Rebuild, I Keep Building
As I rebuild myself, I will continue helping others rebuild. As I move forward, I will create space for people who have been ignored, dismissed, underestimated, or pushed aside.
Life is bigger than me.
You do not have to accept me. You do not have to understand me. But you will not erase me.
I will keep fighting through the pain. I will keep building. I will keep helping others find their voices.
I pivot. I do not quit.
And whether the world is ready or not—you will see me.
